We had been living in a one bedroom condominium in the Bay Area: Joe, Gerri, and two big German Shepherds.
We were taking care of Gerri’s mom who lived 20 miles away, our boarding facility was 40 miles away. We were both working hard jobs with long hours and we were feeling overwhelmed both physically and financially. We’d grown tired of the rat race while trying to fit the rest of our lives and what we loved around what we had to do to get by.
So we began looking up horse properties in Northern California and, as fate would have it, found the perfect property with everything we could want or need in Browns Valley. We made the leap and a short week after we’d found it, it was ours. A beautiful 6-acre ranch with a large barn, round pen, trails, and training facility.
And so, the idea of California Canadians was born.
